My sailing trip onboard the navy RSS Steadfast was awesome! How can we not take photos given such a privileged opportunity? It's not like anyone is allowed to enter the battleship for no reason whatsoever. There were 3 cameramen, from SP Opps magazine, Pioneer Magazine and their navy crew. Yes, we felt like celebrities at first. :D

Like I said we had to report in SP by 630am but Hazwan and I reached around 640am. It's crazy when Ms Kwa, Dexter, Aaron and Gary reached the DMS way before us. Such early people.

Mr Wilson drove us (Aaron, Leon, Gary, Hazwan, Me) and the equipment to Changi Naval Base. On the way there, we drove past the Singapore Flyer and guess what? We caught the sunrise! It was magnificent. It looked just like a red moon but it wasn't bright enough to hurt the naked eye.

Once again, I was the only girl in a car of 6 people and yeah who better to become the victim than me right? They really love to exaggerate their movements, especially when the car came to a bend. Seriously, I was knee-ed like a few times by a certain someone. LOL.

We grabbed some breakfast from ECP McDonalds and met Amanda at Changi Naval Base. As usual, there were security checks just in case we bought in some illegal items. That explains why no one was able to contact me between 830am to 1am. It's alright because having professional photographers onboard was enough to make my trip worthwhile. (I promise photos will be up once I get my hands on them) HAHAHA.

This time we boarded another ship, the RSS Steadfast (No. 70). She just came back from Hawaii. Here's some photos I got from Wiki, the exact same ship we boarded. You can click to enlarge. Heh.

The Heli Deck is really cool at night!
Can feel the strong, cool breeze brushing against your face. Yes, we witnessed the landing of the helicopter during their training sessions.
One was in the evening, the other at night, right before our eyes! Do not despise those of smaller mass. LOL.

Of course we did get down to business which was the main purpose why we were onboard the ship in the first place. We did everything according to schedule and got enough time to watch TV, sleep and enjoyed the so-called sunset (which was somewhat blocked by the clouds)! HAHA. They were so hospitable, even provided us with our very own bunks.

At first, we kept feeling lost in the ship and the stairs looked quite steep but after spending a whole day onboard, everything's at the tip of our fingertips. HAHAHA. We were able to navigate around with ease (e.g. the galley, bridge, heli deck, dining area, cabin, medical room and the lavatories!)

We also had a chance to interact with the crews and the captain. Really cool. The chief chef is really jovial and very open to us. He treated us to Pop Tarts which they bought from US during one of their trainings! Yay. He even invited us to his place for Deepavali. Bagus. The food was palatable. Nice.

My most memorable part of the day was after the sun had set. All the lights that lit the passageway were changed to deep RED. I thought it was something temporary but they said it's a standard procedure to do this at night. Personally, I found it creepy. Although most people onboard were awake and doing their work, the red light made it seemed like we're in a scary place. HAHA. Interesting.

We ventured toward the bridge and it was almost pitch black except for the various lights that were coming from the radars etc. COOL! We didn't wanna disturb their operations so we parked ourselves at one corner. We talked about random stuff and of course, we gazed at the stars.

Oh yes, the heli deck is gorgeous at night. A star-filled sky, away from the hustling and bustling way of the city life, no bright city lights, miles from the coastline and in the middle of the night. Just us and the sea. There was no moon, sadly. We were camwhoring though. Heh.

You do realise that in one day alone I've watched the sunrise, sunset and gazed at the stars! Of all people we happened to watch it altogether. Yes, how UNromantic. HAHAHA. Kidding :)

We touched the shore at around 1am? Yes, in the wee hours of the morning. If not for my work the next day, I'd have stayed out. LOL. I just want to thank God that I managed to reach home safely.

A very very long entry huh.
BUT it was a good experience.
